About Inrush current

Hi everyone,

I can't speak Russian as well as you do. So I will write in English to express myself.I designed a 3D power transformer at Ansys Maxwell and excited it with the external circuit.When I analized my transformer under full load, I got the current&voltage values right.Finally, when I started the analysis under noload, I got a(HV) current waveform, as I shared in the appendix. In fact,this current, which we express aa an inrush current, had to decrease over time from a very high value.I am also puzzled by this result.What do you think could be reason?

I would recommend that you try not to use the circuit when analyzing no load operation. You can try using the initial currents. Try increasing the voltage exponentially.

Dear Klyavlin
First of all, thank you very much for your answer and explanation. Is there a any reason why such an application cannot be apply in the external circuit?
Secondly I will use voltage exciation in transiet solver. I will apply an exponentially increasing sine function in the voltage section. However, I have not had any previous experience with initial current. Should I write the nominal current (sine waveform) of the transformer in the initial current section, or the noload current (sine waveform) or something else? I would be very glad if you could help with this.

Hello, Rob.

If you are using an exponential rising sine function, you do not need to use an initial current. The initial current is needed when you immediately apply the maximum voltage. I suggest using the first case.
